Boondocks Media School is an outreach program of NC Connected, Inc. designed to bring technical training opportunities to children in the rural and under-served communities in North Carolina.
Boondocks Media School (BMS) is a mobile computer training program. In conjunction with a local community partner, NC Connected sets up a computer lab in a rural or under-served community and holds a week-long technology camp for children (boys and girls) ages 11 -17.
Training includes an introduction to web design using HTML and CSS. Digital photography and photo retouching are also introduced. Boondocks Media School classes are led and/or facilitated by graduates of NC Connected’s TechCamp program and by previous Boondocks Media School graduates.
Because we believe in providing exposure to positive role models, participants in this program are offered opportunities, throughout the year, to network with successful women across the state through field trips, community service projects, and sponsored mentored outings.
